Aarya Karmarkar is a rising sophomore at Maggie L. Walker Governor's School in Richmond, VA, where she co-founded and runs a research club, serves as an editor for the school paper, the Jabberwock, and participates in several clubs, spanning badminton to the French National Honor Society.
With her passion for writing, she started a newsletter and has since penned several science articles, including those featured in her school press, the Pulitzer Center, and national-level blogs by UVA. As a student researcher, Aarya has conducted recognized studies on pressing issues of interest and looks to converge her experience in health science and policy through continued work with state-wide initiatives in youth development by the Virginia Department of Health and beyond.
Her recent research interests include topics within medicine and particularly neuroscience, as well as data science and technology policy.
In addition to perusing science journals, Aarya enjoys debate, sleeping, and running (but mostly running away from her problems) within the pockets of free time she happens to find.
